Answer
What is the background of “Tintern Abbey”?
William Wordsworth first visited Tintern Abbey in 1793 at the age of 23. 5 years later in 1798, aged 28, he again visited Tintern Abbey with his sister Dorothy. This time after visiting Tintern Abbey, he wrote the poem Tintern Abbey describing his experience of enjoying the natural beauty. That is, he saw everything first, and then when he remembered everything in a calm atmosphere, he wrote the poem. The poem was published in Wordsworth and Coleridge’s “Lyrical Ballads” collection in 1798. In support of Lyrical Ballads, he wrote an essay in 1802 called “Preface to Lyrical Ballads”.
