Summary
The chaotic situation in England at that time (Octave) Wordsworth was deeply disturbed by the chaotic situation in England at that time. The whole of England was turned into a dirty cesspool. The English Church, the army, the intelligentsia, and all the people had forgotten their ideals. In institutions at all levels of society, people became corrupt. England was the heart of art and literature but is now full of corruption. As a result, there was no peace throughout England. Everyone was thinking about their interests. So the poet appeals to Milton to return. He wished that Milton would return to this world to give moral lessons to selfish people.
Milton’s Virtues (Sestet) The poet discusses Milton’s qualities. His soul was as bright as a star. He had a voice of fearless protest like the roar of the ocean. His mind was as clear as the cloudless sky. He always lived a simple life. He engaged himself in the work of the society. He did not hesitate to do even a trivial task but did it with joy. So the poet calls upon Milton to return to guide the emancipation of the selfish race.
