M. Hopkins’ (1844-1889) poem “The Windhover” (1887) is about the beauty of a falcon flying in the sky and how it reminds the poet of Jesus Christ’s glory. Hopkins shows how nature can connect us to God.

The Beauty of the Windhover: One morning, Hopkins sees a windhover (a type of falcon bird) flying in the sky. The bird is riding the wind. It dives, glides, and turns beautifully in the air. Hopkins feels great joy and excitement while watching the bird. He calls the bird:
