Percy Bysshe Shelley was born in 1792 in England. He came from a rich family. He studied at Eton College and later at Oxford University. But he was expelled from Oxford for writing a pamphlet on atheism.
In 1811, he married Harriet Westbrook. Later, he left her and married Mary Wollstonecraft, who wrote Frankenstein. Shelley lived in many places, including London, Wales, and Italy. He became friends with other famous poets like Lord Byron and John Keats.
His poems often talked about nature, freedom, love, and human emotions. He also wrote against war, kings, and injustice. Some of his best poems are Ozymandias, Ode to the West Wind, To a Skylark, and Prometheus Unbound.
He also wrote an essay called A Defence of Poetry. Shelley died in a shipwreck in 1822 at the age of 29. He was not famous during his life, but became very famous after his death.
