Jane Austen (1775-1817) is one of the most influential woman writers in English literature. She writes about love, family, and society. Her books are full of humor and wisdom. From “Pride and Prejudice” to “Emma,” her works continue to inspire millions of people worldwide.

Her Life: Jane Austen was born in 1775 in England. Her father was a priest and had a big library. Jane loved reading and writing from a young age. She started writing short stories and poems as a child. Her family supported her writing. Though she never got married, she wrote about love, marriage, and family in her works. In her most popular novel “Pride and Prejudice,” she says, 

“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.”

Jane Austen became sick in 1816. She continued writing even when she was sick and weak. She died in 1817 at the age of 41. She was buried in Winchester Cathedral.
